Layoune or El-Aaiún or Laayoune , is a city in the Western Sahara and a former Spanish colony. Administered by Morocco. Layoune is the capital of the Laayoune- Boujdour -Sakia El Hamra region. It is also claimed by the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic as their de jure capital of Western Sahara.
