micromagic systems was founded in 1999 by Matt Denton to supply animatronic, robotic and puppet control systems and services to the film and television industry. It has developed specialised animatronic performance systems which have played pivotal roles in award-winning productions.

In 2016 Matt Denton was awarded a VES award for his work on BB-8 along with team members from Neal Scanlan's CFX department and the ILM digital team.
