A taste of summer in the depths of winter. It's the Vin Maison tasting dinner, presented by chefs Ben Jacoby and Jerry Brownrigg. Vin maison is an apéritif or digestif-style drink made from the magical combination of fruit, wine, leaves, twigs, sugar and booze.
The Craftsman served six courses, each paired with a different wine made from wild, foraged and heirloom fruits: hand picked/liberated wild apples, heirloom Russian plums, wild Black Cap raspberries, Sabrevois grapes and sour cherries. The dinner menu highlighted house made, preserved and cured local ingredients. Molly McNeil and Dave Griffin, of Minnesota Peach, the source of much of the fruit, and the whole Minnesota Peach entourage thoroughly enjoyed the evening from start to finish.
