2024 Theme: Designing for a Better World
The theme of “Designing for a Better World” is demonstrated in many ways such as architects and urban planners creating accessible public spaces, companies focusing on eco-friendly packaging, software developers prioritizing inclusive digital design, community engagement platforms enhancing civic participation, sustainable transportation solutions prioritizing pedestrians and cyclists, educational materials designed for inclusivity, and green architecture emphasizing energy efficiency and occupant well-being. These efforts contribute to a more accessible and environmentally conscious world.
We have been organizing events on the second Thursday in November since 2005.
Over 250,000 people have been involved in events so far, around the world, bringing together different communities to create a more usable world for all of us.
World Usability Initiative
The goal of the World Usability Initiative (WUI) is to connect the Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and the User Experience (UX) community and everyone who believes that great design is inclusive and usable by all, to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals by establishing World Usability Day as an internationally observed day, listed on the United Nations calendar. Help us achieve this goal!

Fireside Chat
Fireside Chat: Elizabeth Rosenzweig and Whitney Hess
Join us for a Fireside Chat with Elizabeth Rosenzewig and Whitney Hess! The 2024 theme for World Usability Day is “Designing for a Better World,” and our Fireside Chat will focus on discussing this theme. Our session will explore an open-source framework currently being developed called the Inner Development Goals (IDGs) and how they are connected to usability, tools, and platforms. Register here
In 2015, all members of the United Nations agreed on 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to create a world of peace, dignity, and prosperity for a healthy planet. The target for reaching these goals is 2030, but progress has been slow, and in some ways we’re even worse off. The challenge is NOT a lack of having the science or technology to reach these targets—it’s a people problem.
Whitney Hess will share an emerging framework called the Inner Development Goals (IDGs)—an open-source project backed by a nonprofit organization with the purpose of identifying the individual and collective skills necessary for business leaders like us to develop within ourselves to drive systemic, sustainable change. We look forward to hearing what parts of the IDGs speak to you personally and professionally, getting you excited to participate in refining this framework, and helping you begin to identify where you’re ready to make your own commitment to further this critical mission.
SXC2024
A hybrid conference for designers by designers
We started STHLM Xperience Conference in 2018, because we wanted to create a place where everyone that works with experience can learn and have fun together. The conference was a total success and SXC is now a yearly event.
Our vision
Inspire and create conditions for design teams and leaders to come together and create amazing experiences.
Our Mission
Be an outstanding global forum for teams that create great experiences, by providing tools for their daily work, and networking with both local and international digital experts. Providing leadership in a rapidly changing market, and requirements on new competencies.
