Statement by Roger Dow, president and CEO of the U.S. Travel Association, on the announcement by the Department of Transportation that airline industry performance has improved:

"Today's announcement that airlines had their best on-time performance in two years is great news for America's travelers," said Dow. "With airlines improving their performance and the federal government making improvements to airport security screening, business and leisure travelers should find flying a little more enjoyable this summer.”

Dow noted that the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA’s) trusted traveler program, named PreCheck, is now operational at 15 U.S. airports and has screened more than 1.4 million passengers. “But we can’t stop here,” said Dow. “By growing enrollment in PreCheck and making the customs process at our airports more efficient, the government can continue to encourage travel - and grow the economy - by improving security and decreasing hassles.”

The U.S. Travel Association is the national, non-profit organization representing all components of the travel industry that generates $1.9 trillion in economic output and supports 14.4 million jobs. U.S. Travel's mission is to increase travel to and within the United States.
