Rand McNally’s Harley-Davidson Ride Atlas of North America

September 1 2007

Rand McNally has released their 2nd edition of the Harley-Davidson Ride Atlas of North America. Feedback from hundreds of riders helped to develop the 336-page map book that has a redesigned water-resistant magnetic closure cover and more durable pages.

The book is very unique in that it has State and Provincial road laws as they apply to motorcyclists and maps that detail the most scenic riding roads in each State and Province. These roads are already highlighted for you to follow. Some roads marked also have a motorcycle icon to direct the rider on the ‘Featured rides’. Long-term construction is also marked on the maps. Because it is in collaboration with Harley-Davidson, dealer locations are marked with a bar and shield icon on each map along with the addresses and phone numbers of the dealers are listed in a sidebar.

The beginning pages of the map book contain 29 detailed rides with a close-up map with the route highlighted, length of route, amount of time needed to travel it, touring information, available side trips and interesting places to stop along the way. Most of the detailed trips are in the States but there are trips in Alberta and British Columbia, Newfoundland, Labrador and Nova Scotia.

Each map page has detailed insets of the major cities in that particular State or Province and a mileage chart. Also included at the request of riders is a 16-page ride log to record your favourite trips and people you meet along the way.

At the back of the book is a city index and a huge North America mileage chart that spans 8 full pages.

This is easily the most compre-hensive map book for motorcyclists I have ever seen and for $39.95 should make worthy reference material on any trip.
