Indian Administrative Services (IAS) Exam is an entrance test conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for recruiting candidates as IAS officials.

Indian Administrative Service (IAS) is a highly competitive job entrance exam, which is being conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The exam is conducted for recruiting the candidates as Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers. Candidates get selected through the entrance test and the subsequent interview, to get employed in the administrative service of the country. The entrance test is conducted once in a year and is usually scheduled in the month of July, every year. IAS exam is conducted at various test centers at national level. The exam has three stages, including Preliminary exam, Main exam and Personal Interview. Candidates are required to qualify the written test of first stage.
 
After qualifying the written exam, only selected candidates receive call for personal interview conducted by the Commission, for personality test of the candidates. Eligible candidates are permitted to attempt the recruitment exam at least four times. In case of SC/ST candidates, aforementioned restriction is not applicable. Other Backward Castes (OBC) candidates can attempt the exam at least seven times. All female candidates, SC/ST, disabled candidates are exempted from paying any kind of exam fee for the entrance test. There is no fee exemption for OBC candidates and they have to pay the full prescribed fee. Candidates can get recruited in Indian Administrative Services only after qualifying in the written test and the interview.
