3. How do I create a new media item?

To create a new media item click on ADD NEW MEDIA ITEM located in the Media Properties panel. Fill out the text fields below and remember to click the "save" button when you are finished.

4. How do I create a new category?

To create a new category click on a channel in the Media panel that you would like the category to be placed under, then click ADD NEW CATEGORY in the Media Panel. The "Create New Category" dialog appears and asks you to type in the name of your new category. When you are finished click the "Create Category" button. The dialog will let you know that your new category has been created and that you can create another category or close the dialog. To close the dialog click the "Close" button.

5. How do I create a new channel?

To create a new channel, click on ADD NEW CHANNEL in the Media panel. The "Create New Channel" dialog window appears and asks you to type in the name of your new channel. When you are finished click the "Create Group" button. The dialog will let you know that your new channel has been created and that you can create another channel or close the dialog. To close the dialog click the "Close" button.

6. How do I make a channel, category, or item not appear on the media player without deleting it?

To make a channel, category, or item not appear on the media player without deleting it locate the checkboxes that appear in the Media panel under ACTIVE. Find the channel, category, or item that you do not want appearing on the media player and uncheck its checkbox. Doing so will change this item from an "active item" to an "inactive item." Inactive items will not appear on the media player. Remember that all items are active by default.

7. How do I delete a channel, category, or item?

To delete a channel, category, or item, click on the item to be deleted and then click on the trash can icon located at the bottom left of your console window. A dialog will appear asking if you really want to delete this item, click the "OK" button to delete, or the "Cancel" button if you decide that you do not want to delete it.

8. How do I change the order of my channels, categories, or items?

To change the order of your channels, right click (PC) or Control click (Mac) on a channel and an "Edit Item" dialog will appear. The dialog has text fields indicating the item name and the sort order. The sort order number controls where the channels will be placed in your list. The smaller the number (in relation to the other items in your list) the higher up on the list it will be. For example if channel "A" has a sort order of 12, channel "B" has a sort order 27, and channel "C" has a sort order of 4, then their order would be: channel "C", channel "A", and channel "B" would be last. As shown in the example the sort order numbers do not have to be contiguous.

To change the order of your categories, follow the same procedure mentioned above. The categories will be arranged within the channel they are currently in.

To change the order of your items, first click on the category the items are placed in. Then, in the Selected Category panel click on the item you would like to move. Locate the SORT MEDIA arrow buttons located at the top right of the Selected Category panel and click the up or down arrow depending on which way you would like that item to move.



9. How do I edit a media item?

To edit a media item click on the item in the Selected Category panel. You will now be able to edit the media item in the Media Properties panel. Remember to click the "save" button when you are finished.

10. What size and resolution should my thumbnails be?

The size of the thumbnails should be 81 x 61 pixels and the resolution should be 72dpi.

11. How do I place an item in a new category?

To place an item in a different category go to the Selected Category panel and click on the item that you want to put somewhere else. In the Media Properties panel you will see a category scrolling box which is highlighting the category that item is currently in. Simply select a new category and then click the "save" button.

12. How do I upload a new image or video?

There are two places where you can either upload an image/ video; in the Media Properties panel and in the "Account Settings" dialog. Both operate in the same way. To upload an image/video click on the "Upload New (Image/Video)" button. A new dialog appears giving you the option to select an image/video from a drop down list or to browse your computer for an image/video. Click the "Browse" button to locate and open a file. When you have chosen your file click the "Done" button. Now click the "save" button.

13. How do I see what my media player looks like?

To see what your media player looks like click on the View Player link located above the Media Properties panel.

14. How do I change my password, contact info, login name, organization, player logo, admin banner, and other account settings?

To change your account settings click on the Account Settings link located above the Media Properties panel. Within this dialog you will see several text fields that allow you to change your organization, the name on the account, the login name, the password, the contact email address, the player logo, the admin banner, an optional flash image, a URL for flash file, and the LightCast Subdomain. Don't forget to click the "Save" button before closing this dialog.

15. What size and resolution should the player logo be?

The player logo should be 217 x 70 pixels and have a resolution of 72dpi.

16. What size and resolution should the admin banner be?

The admin banner should be 980 x 70 pixels and have a resolution of 72 dpi.

17. How do I upload a flash file or image for the media player?

To upload a flash file or image for the media player, click on the Account Settings link located above the Media Properties panel. You will see a column of text fields on the left side of the dialog window.

To place an image on the media player either go to the "Optional Flash" drop-down menu and select an image or upload a new image. To upload a new image, click on the "Upload a New Image" button, a new dialog window appears. Click the "Choose a file" button to browse your computer for an image. Once you have chosen your image you will come back to the last dialog window. Click the "Done" button. The window will close and return you to the Account Settings dialog where you can now click the "save" button and close the window.

To assign a flash file to the media player, go to the "URL for Optional Flash" text field and enter in the URL of your flash file. Then in the "LightCast Subdomain" text field enter your subdomain. For example: "subdomain".lightcastmedia.com Then click the "Save" button and close the window.



18. What size should the flash file or image be?

The flash file and/or the optional flash image should be 360 x 105 pixels.

19. How do I select a new media player?

To select a new media player click on the Account Settings link located above the Media Properties panel. When the dialog window appears bring your attention to the right side. You will see different media players you are able to choose from and you will see that your current media player has its selection box selected. To switch players, click on another players selection box, you will notice that your current player will become unselected. All of your information will automatically be switched over to the new player. Remember to click the "save" button before closing the dialog window. To view your new media player, click on the View Player link located above the Media Properties panel.

20. How do I add items to my playlist?

To add items to your playlist, go to your media player, or if you are in the console click on the View Player link located above the Media Properties panel to see your active media player. All of your media items listed on your player have a + icon. Click this icon and the media item will automatically be added to your playlist. You may then click the "My Playlist" button at the top right of the media player to view your playlist.

21. I have a lot of music in my media player, how do I quickly locate a specific media item?

To locate a specific media item go to your media player, or if you are in the console click on the View Player link located above the Media Properties panel to see your active media player. In the top right corner of the media player click the "Search" button. You will see that a pop-up dialog appears with a cursor flashing. Type the name of the song, part of the description, or any word or phrase associated with that media item and then click the "Go" button. The media player will then show only the media items that contain the words or phrases you typed.

22. How do I email someone a song off of my media player?

To email someone a link to your media player go to your media player, or if you are in the console you can click on the View Player link that is located above the Media Properties panel to view your active media player. All of your media items listed on your player contain an envelope icon. Click this icon and the "Send to a Friend" dialog window appears. Fill in the text fields shown in the window and click the "send" button.

23. How do I adjust the volume of my media player?

To adjust the volume of your media player checkout your control buttons under the player screen and you will see a sound icon next to the play/pause button. Click in the field next to the icon to determine how loud or soft you want the sound to be.

24. How do I adjust the size of my media player?

To adjust the size of your media player look under the media player screen and you will see three buttons: 1x, 2x, and -. To make your player screen big click the "2x" button. To bring the player back down to normal size click the "1x" button. To make your player smaller click the "-" button.

25. I have made an addition or change in the console and it does not seem to be showing up correctly or at all, what should I do?

When editing your media player within the console, try refreshing the page if your changes do not show up correctly.
