L166
Commentary

This is JBL's first speaker system equipped with a dome type tweeter 066.

Equipped with 30 cm cone type woofer 122A in the low range.
This unit is an improved version of the L65 woofer and incorporates JBL speaker technology such as a powerful magnetic circuit with an Alnico V magnet and a voice coil with a mass control ring to enable excellent low-range playback.
Regarding the woofer, it is described as 122A in the catalog around 1975, but after that it is described as 122A-1 in the catalog around 1978, and it seems that minor changes have been made.

13 cm cone type Skoka LE5-8 is mounted in the middle area.

A 2.5 cm dome type tweeter 066 is installed in the high range.
This unit uses a diaphragm with a special vapor deposition of aluminum and resin. This greatly reduces distortion and makes it possible to reproduce the sound beyond the audible band. This unit also has excellent transient characteristics and has acquired directional characteristics of 150 ° at 20 kHz and 90 ° at 30 kHz.

The enclosure uses a bass reflex system, and the front grill uses JBL's unique geometric design panel.
